The primary purpose of the Institutional Review Board (IRB) is to聽protect the rights and welfare of human subjects involved in research activities. IRB has the authority to approve, require modifications in (to secure approval), or disapprove research.聽The processes and procedures to request and receive IRB approval are specified in 鈥淕uidelines for IRB Review and Approval.鈥

Composition of the Institutional Review Board

The IRB consists of four CDI,聽enseignant chercheur聽AUP faculty and another individual as specified in the 鈥淕uidelines for IRB Review and Approval.鈥 The IRB is a standing committee of the Executive Committee. The Chair of the Executive Committee and the Chair of the Faculty Senate, in consultation with the Provost, will appoint the committee members; the members will be appointed to a three-year renewable term. The IRB will meet at least once per semester to review research applications from faculty, staff, and students.聽
