Lead IT Support Technician

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Lead IT Support Technician position assists staff, faculty, and students with technical support of computers, applications, and related technology. Activities require interaction with application software and operating systems (such as Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office 365 environment, and Apple Macs) to diagnose and resolve problems. The position utilizes IT support Management tool to provide first-line helpdesk support to AUP users, assisting them in person, via phone, email, chat and remote connection. Problem resolution may involve the use of diagnostic and help request tracking tools, as well as require that the individual give in-person, hands-on help at the desktop level.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Duties and responsibilities - Desktop Support

  • Assists staff with the installation, configuration, and ongoing usability of desktop computers, peripheral equipment and software within established standards and guidelines.
  • Performs hands-on fixes at the desktop level, including installing and upgrading software, installing hardware, and configuring systems and applications.
  • Responds to and resolves user requests for IT technical support in a timely manner using AUP Request Management Systems.
  • Responds to and resolves user requests for support in a virtual environment.
  • Takes ownership of user problems and proactively deals with user issues.
  • Troubleshoots system failures and network issues involving Mac and Windows workstations, printers, WIFI, authentication, connectivity, VoIP telephone, and printers by providing
    solutions to restore functionality.
  • Performs installation and routine maintenance of network cabling, patching network cables to the switches, and WIFI access points and testing network links and connectivity.
  • Performs user management tasks such as user ID creation and maintenance, password reset, and directory search using the users鈥 management web page.
  • Works with the IT support team and System Administration staff as appropriate to determine and resolve problems received from clients.
  • Builds and deploys new desktops, laptops, and portable devices by use of deployment tools.
  • Deploys software and applies system configuration and settings on user devices using device management tools.
  • Generate reports for management, encompassing incident management, metrics, and system improvement recommendations
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation of standard client computing processes, collaborating closely with system administrators

SKILLS REQUIRED

  • 3-5 years experience providing technical support services.

ACE Advisor 鈥 Career Focus

DEPARTMENT: Academic Affairs

SUPERVISOR: Director of Career Development ACE or any other supervisor designed by the President.

POSITION OVERVIEW

The principal responsibilities of this position are to advise students on building a career trajectory; acquiring and identifying transferable, marketable skills; and preparing to enter the world of work.

ACE advisors with a career focus to work in tandem with ACE advisors with an academic focus to build links with students, faculty, and the departments, with the career-focus advisors working with students to discover the range of discipline-oriented professional trajectories and to develop professional skills both inside and outside the classroom.

They work with faculty and the departments to transform their contacts within the field into internship and work opportunities for students by helping build and maintain employer networks. Flexibility is crucial to this position, as is the ability to work well within a team, to function independently, and to demonstrate diplomacy while dealing with a range of stakeholders. ACE team members supply support to other ACE staff as required by the cyclical nature of the academic year.

Note that these are shared roles: duties and tasks listed below will be distributed across ACE Advisors 鈥 no one advisor does it all! Rather, ACE advisors with a career focus will be responsible for taking a percentage of the career, internship, GPS, and relationship-building responsibilities.

The ACE Advisor 鈥 Career Focus Level 2 role is for someone with a proven track record in all the skill areas detailed below and, after an initial training period, can function completely autonomously.

RESPONSIBILITIES

General career advising, exploration, and coaching:

鈥 Works with students who seek support in exploring career pathway possibilities that link their academic, co-curricular and past professional experiences and interests.

鈥 Assists students in preparing and implementing their internship and job searches by leading workshops, group coaching sessions, and individual student appointments.

鈥 Support鈥檚 students in the preparation of resumes and cover letters in English and French, interview preparation, job and internship search tactics, etc.鈥 Maintains and shares knowledge on trends and best practices in recruiting in France, Europe, the US, and other parts of the world; use of social media for job seeking and the latest developments in resume writing; and maintain presence in professional networks.

Internship Program coordination:

鈥 Oversees the Internship and Career Advising Assistant in processing students鈥 internship registrations.

鈥 Liaises with other offices as appropriate concerning interns鈥 graduation dates, GPA and overload issues, internship dates for enrollment certificates, carte de s茅jour and visa issues, tuition payments, health and other insurance issues.

鈥 Implements internship approval process and registers approved internships via CAMs or other student data management system.

鈥 Ensures faculty, students and host companies have access to accurate information through creation and revision of all aspects of internship information.

Student Recruitment Counsellor 鈥 Graduate focus

POSITION OVERVIEW

The post holder is responsible for the recruitment and admission of students, with a specific focus on AUP鈥檚 graduate programs.听 This entails the development and implementation of marketing, communications and recruitment strategies that directly support the achievement of 国产AV鈥檚 enrolment targets at the graduate level.听 In addition, the post holder will be responsible for the completion and preparation of graduate student applications ahead of their review by the relevant Graduate Program Director, and the release of all subsequent decisions.听

The role includes tasks based on- and off-campus, including regular national and international travel, supporting daily visits to campus, Graduate Program Director Liaison, enquiry telephone calls and emails, graduate application review, online information sessions and the yielding of students post offer of admission.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Main Duties and Responsibilities

The main duties and responsibilities of the role include, but are not limited to:

Development of a Graduate Recruitment Plan

The post holder, in tandem with specific members of the AUP community, will develop an overall graduate student recruitment campaign aimed at current undergraduate students, early career professionals, and other candidates in all 国产AV鈥檚 major country markets.听 The post holder will collaborate with faculty and staff to discuss and refine the plan on a regular basis, particular colleagues in the Office of Communication and the Graduate Program Directors.

Lead on the recruitment of graduate students to AUP

As part of 国产AV鈥檚 sales team, the post holder helps drives the student recruitment function, generating appropriately qualified graduate enquiries and applicants according to agreed targets.听 The means to achieve these goals are varied and include face-to-face and online marketing activities, the development of relationships in specified country markets, and excellent customer service.

Graduate Program Director Liaison

The post holder will provide a link between students applying for graduate programs at AUP and each of the individual Graduate Program Directors.听 This will include arranging interviews and other face-to-face or virtual activities where necessary, facilitating other contact with any of the Program Directors, and liaison with the Graduate Office as necessary.

Represent 国产AV internationally and locally

The post holder will represent AUP at a range of types of events, including visits, education fairs and exhibitions, individual meetings at schools, colleges, universities and with other stakeholders.听 In so representing AUP, the post holder is expected to develop appropriate relationships with all relevant individuals and institutions that contribute to the successful recruitment of students.听 Substantial international and national travel is an essential component in this aspect of the role.

Support current AUP students wishing to remain at 国产AV via the BA/MA pathway

The post holder will be responsible for all students currently enrolled at AUP whom wish to remain at 国产AV.This will primarily consist of those undergraduate students wishing to remain at AUP for their graduate program via 国产AV鈥檚 BA/MA pathway.Work in this area will require responsiveness to enquiries and face-to-face contact with students, in addition to collaborative working with academic and staff colleagues across campus.

Manage all pre-application enquiries

With colleagues in similar roles, the post holder is responsible for managing all graduate pre-application enquiries to AUP via our CRM system, in addition to telephone and face-to-face contacts.Such queries are answered through 鈥榯emplated鈥 replies appropriate to the nature of the enquiry received.Overall, the pre-application enquiry phase relies on efficient and timely responses, and is organised on a rota basis, depending on workload and the time of year.

Manage all post-offer contacts and yield activities

As part of the Student Recruitment Team, the post holder is responsible for managing the relationship between AUP and graduate students holding an offer of admission until they are enrolled at 国产AV, including visa support.The post holder is responsible for a defined group of students and works consistently to ensure that these students confirm and enrol at AUP.Activities in this area are measured directly by conversion, confirmation and other data.

Development of market intelligence and market awareness

The post holder maintains a keen awareness of developments and trends in all country markets for which he/she is responsible.听 This includes development of a list of resources that are referred to on a regular basis, attendance at relevant meetings and conferences, regular update meetings in the 国产AV Office, contact with academic colleagues at AUP, and the maintenance of a network of contacts.

Create an effective network across the AUP campus

Slate Administrator for Enrollment

SUPERVISOR Director of US 国产AV or any other supervisor as designated by the President

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Slate Administrator, a one-person role, and will support AUP鈥檚 CRM system (Technolutions Slate) in how it relates to 国产AV and Enrollment. The Slate Administrator will apply their skills as a seasoned, experienced database professional to diagnose and address issues of moderate to complex scope, deepening the capabilities of the Slate platform to meet the growing needs of 国产AV.

The postholder will recommend and implement changes to database elements to assure proper hygiene and compliance with database standards; and will develop, deliver, and maintain template libraries, standard queries and on demand or custom reports within Slate.

The role requires a cross-functional and high-level oversight of enhancements to existing and new functionality. The Slate Administrator will create new initiatives that support the overall enrollment goals of 国产AV and move the institution forward in achieving its targets.

This position is based in the United States and is fully remote.

RESPONSIBILITES

The main duties and responsibilities of the role will include, but may not be limited to:

Day-to-Day Operations (40%):

  • Coordination with colleagues in 国产AV (Paris and US Offices) to execute all recruitment and admissions solutions through Slate, including but not limited to process, workflow, and communications designed to enroll talented and diverse students.

  • Daily administration and support of the Slate platform including but not limited to managing user setup, profiles and roles, permissions, customization of objects, fields, record types, page layouts, etc.

  • Creating reports using queries and data collected within Slate platform to support all 国产AV needs, including maintaining and enhancing existing dashboards based on the needs of the users and their specific requirements.

  • Conducting on-going analysis of business processes, making recommendations, and delivering solutions that align with the overall goals of the unit.

  • Completion of all annual cycle prep work for undergraduate and graduate admissions based on required deadlines.

  • Participating in cross-functional teams to address complex business or systems issues as the owner of technical aspects of the platform. Interacting with stakeholder departments to streamline and curate the pre-arrival online process via Slate, acting as the primary liaison for Slate CRM and operations-related functions with all stakeholders across campus.

  • Serving as the primary technical liaison and University鈥檚 project manager with integration vendors/partners.

  • Ensuring data integrity in core systems as well as maintaining the processes to support the quality of data.

Alignment with Strategic Initiatives (25%):

  • In conjunction senior colleagues, supporting the evolution of Slate to underpin all developing needs within the admissions and enrollment function.

  • Designing and implementing new portals for various audiences, as well as maintenance and enhancements as necessary to existing portals.

  • Engaging in online (Slate Festival) and in-person (Slate Summit) training with follow-up presentations and reports to all relevant colleagues.

Training and Development (15%):

  • Establishing and implementing processes within Slate to effectively meet program requirements and ensure the most streamlined and efficient processes to support all routes of enrollment to AUP.

  • Working closely with colleagues who perform various roles within 国产AV to understand their needs, assess their skill level, and develop training and resources that meet various learning requirements.

  • Monitoring and evaluating how staff use Slate to determine how it can be used more effectively to meet business needs.

  • Gathering, analyzing, preparing, and summarizing recommendations of process and procedural documentation, and implementing approved changes.

  • Consulting with colleagues to help staff better use applications that are currently available to them.

Troubleshooting (15%):

  • Serving as the primary liaison to our Slate vendor. Implementing and testing new functionalities as released by the vendor. Managing all updates, including patches and fixes.

  • Daily troubleshooting across all university units to ensure the Slate platform is correctly functioning, including the maintenance of our ticketing system.

Other duties (5%):

Faculty Positions

Assistant Professor in Professional Communications (Branding)

The American University of Paris invites applications for a full-time Assistant Professor position in Professional Communications (Branding) in the Department of Communication, Media and Culture. Applicants should have solid expertise in professional brand development and brand management with a strong background in relevant sectors such as marketing, advertising, or public relations. Candidates should also have a strong record of university-level teaching in professional branding and communications courses and in related fields such as public relations, and a proven capacity to mentor students on their professional futures. Highest consideration will be given to applicants with both practical and critical expertise in their chosen field of communications and whose industry and/or academic experience is international and cross-cultural. The successful candidate would be expected to teach at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.

Qualifications: A Master鈥檚 degree or PhD in a relevant discipline by the time of appointment (1 January 2025, subject to final budgetary approval). Proven capacity for excellent, engaged teaching committed to student learning within a liberal arts context, and to experiential learning and critical practice. Strong record in curriculum and course development. Familiarity with liberal arts education, learning objectives, skill development (critical thinking, information literacy, writing in the disciplines, etc.) and assessment is highly desirable. Candidates should be able to demonstrate the capacity to help students plan and develop their internships and career plans. The Department: Dedicated to the international and comparative study of communications, media and culture, the department houses four undergraduate majors (Global Communications, Film Studies, Journalism, Communication and Civil Society), six undergraduate minors (Fashion Studies, Sociocultural Anthropology, Comparative Political Communications, Global Communications, Journalism, Film Studies) and a dynamic MA program in Global Communications offering additional MA tracks in Fashion; Development Communications; and Digital Cultures and Industries. Assistant Professor of Writing and Digital Humanities

The American University of Paris invites applications for a full-time position with a focus on Writing and digital humanities in the Department of Comparative Literature and English, at the rank of Assistant Professor, beginning August 1, 2025. The Department: Dedicated to international and interdisciplinary research, the History and Politics department integrates the study of Politics, History, Law, and Philosophy. Along with eight minors and dynamic MA programs, the department houses six majors: International and Comparative Politics; Philosophy, Politics & Economics; History; History, Law, and Society; Philosophy, and Middle East Pluralities.

Responsibilities:

鈥 The teaching load is six courses per academic year including the teaching of courses in support of the university鈥檚 first-year experience, which encompasses the FirstBridge program and expository writing.

鈥 Teaching responsibilities will primarily be focused on the department鈥檚 International and Comparative Politics curriculum.

鈥 Academic advising and mentoring are important components of our work with students.鈥 Faculty engage in service to the department (curricular development and promotion) as well as service to the university (committee work, assessment, interdisciplinary collaboration).

鈥 AUP has a shared governance system and so all faculty are expected to participate in the procedures of faculty governance, including attending full faculty, department, and committee meetings.

Assistant Professor of Political Science/International Relations (Environmental Politics)

The American University of Paris invites applications for a full-time position in the Department of History and Politics at the rank of Assistant Professor in Political Science/International Relations (Environmental Politics), beginning 1 August 2025.

Qualifications:

We are looking for candidates whose research analyzes environmental politics in a comparative and听international perspective. Applicants should combine a dynamic research agenda with a commitment to teaching in a liberal arts institution. The appointment includes teaching introductory and advanced courses such as Challenges of Global Politics and International Politics of the Environment. The successful candidate will also develop courses that align with her/his/their scholarly interests and have the opportunity to collaborate with AUP鈥檚 interdisciplinary research centers and majors. A PhD, preferably in Political Science/International Relations, is required by the date of appointment.
